Uncompromised detection reliability for your analytical systems.
Designed by Chemlys, the PermeaBOX is a positive-pressure permeation oven
PermeaBOX: Ease of use and precision for your standard gas generation
The PermeaBOX is an autonomous calibration gas generator engineered to satisfy the most demanding industrial requirements .
The PermeaBOX Guaranteeing reliable standard gas generation for ultra-trace analysis, it features a premium technical design:
-
Ergonomics and safety: Horizontal tubular furnace
with quick front accessfor seamless loading and unloading of permeation tubes. -
Total chemical inertness 100% stainless-steel fluid path and oven with Sulfinert coating
to guarantee complete sample integrity. -
High-precision regulation: Digital temperature controller coupled with a PT100 sensor, ultra-stable pressure regulator, and dual rotameter for fine-tuning carrier and dilution gas flows
.
What are the benefits of PermeaBOX for the safety of your industrial site?
Implementing the PermeaBOX provides a dual strategic advantage for your plant, combining HSE safety with OPEX optimization:
-
Zero 'false negative' reliability: Thanks to the continuous generation of a reference gas, the system performs regular self-checks on the analyzer, sampling lines, and alarm relays
. Any analytical failure or missed detection immediately triggers a dedicated alarm . -
Simplified calibrations and operational cost control: The PermeaBOX eliminates the need for conventional calibration gas cylinders, which are cumbersome and costly to manage. Integrated rotameters enable operators to seamlessly adjust dilution flow rates for stable, high-precision, and state-of-the-art multi-point calibrations.
To meet demanding industrial standards for durability and accuracy, the PermeaBOX is built around premium-grade components
- Horizontal tubular oven with direct front access, made of Sulfinert-treated stainless steel
- Built-in thermal safety fuse with automatic shut-off if maximum temperature is exceeded
- Dual precision rotameters for carrier and dilution gas fine-tuning, coupled with an integrated pressure regulator
Operating Principle:
Permeation tube calibration is a benchmark method for generating gas mixtures at trace and ultra-trace levels with excellent stability and repeatability. It also provides a solution for calibrating compounds that are unavailable in gas cylinders or unstable in gas mixtures.
Its operating principle is based on a simple, remarkably efficient mechanism:
-
Constant thermal emission: A certified tube, installed inside the PermeaBOX furnace maintained at a strictly constant temperature, provides a continuous release of the target gas at a fixed permeation rate
. -
Dilution and concentration calculation: This gas is swept away and mixed with a dilution flow
. The final concentration generated is defined in particular according to the emission rate and total gas flow. -
Multipoint calibration: By maintaining a fixed temperature, the operator simply adjusts the dilution flow rate via the front rotameters to generate different reference concentration levels
.
To define your permeation tube, you need to know the following:
- The maximum length your oven can accept (15 cm for permeaBOX)
- The target concentration according to the alarms configured
- The temperature range available on your permeation oven (up to 80°C for PermeaBOX)
Non-exhaustive list. Contact us for unlisted compounds.
| Target compound | Target concentration (OEL-based) |
| Dimethyl sulfate (DMS), CAS No. 77-78-1 | 50 - 70 ppb |
| Benzene, CAS No. 71-43-2 | 50 - 150 ppb |
| Epichlorhydrin, CAS No. 106-89-8 | 50 - 150 ppb |
| BCME (Bis(chloromethyl) oxide), CAS No. 542-88-1 | 20 - 40 ppb |
| Trichloroethylene (TCE), CAS No. 79-01-6 | 50 - 150 ppb |
| Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), CAS No. 56-23-5 | 50 - 150 ppb |
Caution: similar to calibration cylinders, permeation tubes feature a finite shelf life. This validity duration is determined by the compound's chemical stability and concentration (hence the liquid volume within the tube), typically ranging from 3 to 12 months.
